The story: There was much excitement still buzzing from the previous night’s event (the debut show Conception). The girls were ready to get into the ring to work on their wrestling a bit before the doors open. There was a rumor circulating that the show may be canceled due to the front page story in the local newspaper about this Women’s Wrestling company, and the speculation of what the show may entail, plus the news of fines levied against the Days Inn from the night before. There were secret meetings with the fire chief, his staff, and the owners of D.W.O.W. about the show. The girls didn’t know what to do with themselves as the ring crew still did not have the ring ready for practice yet. The girls were talking amongst themselves hoping for the show to go on, as most took off from the strip club where they would normally make a few hundred on any given night.
As it grew closer to show time, a line of people started to grow down the street. The line consisted of mostly men, a few women, and a kid or two with their parents (Don’t ask. We were responsible and informed the parent of what to expect, and they were okay with it?) The internet already started to buzz with information of last night’s show in Allentown, PA; especially with Ryan Shamrock and Nicole Bass on the card --oil wrestling. Another piece to the puzzle and addition to the hype was the new security team of Mark Shaprio and crew (all of whom worked for --then or before for E.C.W. as seen at live events and shows) adding more, if you will, “legitimacy” to the company and the event.
One low ticket price included admission into the event and beef n beer. You couldn’t beat the package deal! Once again the lighting was a tad bit dark in the building. Here the company has a new sound and light show, just no special in ring lighting so people can see what is going on in the ring. The camera work on this show was improved from the first show, but still not what we were shooting a year, two, or three years later. Again, this footage has historical value to it, and we feel it is important that we display it proudly for all who wish to see it. We have again digitally re-mastered the footage to lighten up the video as best as we can.
Tonight’s backstage area was in one of the engine bays where they kept their prized fire truck. Sexy girls, and the smell of gasoline, gotta love it! It almost seemed as if the girls themselves were comfortable being “wrestlers” already, almost like they have been doing it for some time.
The speech by Mark Shaprio before the actual show started was classic (basically) --do not touch the girls inappropriately or you will be ejected from the show without refund. Cue the music and let’s start the show.
One last note. If the W.W.E. would’ve stole our concepts a little earlier (than they did) they could’ve had Nicole Bass vs Ryan Shamrock in Oil Wrestling. Who would’ve known they had both those talents and they dropped the ball on the match up. We did it twice in one weekend!
***Disclaimer: Like stated before “only if we knew what we were doing from the start”, that statement also includes all video taping of the live shows. As each show goes, the camera work and production does improve. This includes the actual shot, content, and lighting. We will do our best in lighten up the dark video, editing dead shots, and dressing the video up with graphics to make it more pleasing to the eye.
